Job description Tasks/Responsibilities/Authorities
Responsible for the safe operation of the vessels engine room and vessels technical installations and execution of maintenance and repairs as stipulated by the pertaining Safety Management System Procedures/Documents/Guidelines in compliance with International and Flag State-rules & regulations with respect to, but not limited to:
Engine room Operations at Sea and in Port
o Deputy of Second Engineer, in case of incapacity of the Second Engineer take over his duties
o Assist the Chief Engineer in safe and efficient operation of the engine room
o Keep engine room watch at sea and in the port as required
Seaworthiness of the vessel
Waste & Environmental issues
o Maintenance and continuously operability of the ships machinery, as delegated by the Chief Engineer
Emergencies
Maintenance and Repairs
o Assist in the preparation of requisition for replacement of spare parts and materials
o Maintain engine room and deck machinery and supervise all personnel engaged in such a work
Job requirements
Knowledge and skills/Qualifications and experience
Basic knowledge of Flag State and International Maritime Rules and Regulations
Technical knowledge and practical skill of Marine Engineering
Basic knowledge of stock and spare part administration
Possess leadership and communicative qualities, and be able to work in a team
Thorough knowledge of the English language through the spoken and written word
Basic knowledge of the pertaining SMS Procedures/Documents/Guidelines
